Broncos Spoil Seattle's Slumber Party, Sunday Brings a Buffet of Fantasy Headaches

Fourteen teams, thirteen games, and a whole lot of owners about to discover their lineup has one guy playing for the wrong side of a blowout.

The Seahawks hosted Thursday Night Football like it owed them money and still walked away on the wrong end of a 14-17 final to Denver. Nothing dramatic, nothing record-setting, just a quiet, efficient gut-punch to kick off the week — the kind of result that makes you double-check your flex spot and sigh.

Now, onto the main event: a thirteen-game Sunday-Monday slate that somehow manages to touch almost every fantasy roster in this league at least twice. Buckle up.

The Early Window Landmines

HOU @ JAX opens things up with Jacksonville favored by a modest 2.5 and a total sitting at 42.5 — hardly a shootout, which is bad news for anyone leaning on skill-position stats out of this one. That's a direct concern for titysprinkles2, Hands Holzberger, I am so SMRT, D'OH, Corn Shoughers, Bush League, and Even Bauce Can Beat WV, all of whom have chips in this low-scoring pot.

BAL @ CLE is basically a league convention — Even Bauce, Stinky Bastards, titysprinkles2, Hands Holzberger, BourbonBandits, Foosball is the Devil, Kardiac Kids, and Bush League all have skin in the game. Baltimore's favored by 5.5, so the Browns owners in the group might want to look away.

TEN @ IND has Indy favored by a hefty 7.0, which should make American Idol (Colts side) feel pretty smug while titysprinkles2, BourbonBandits, and Kardiac Kids — straddling both sidelines — get to feel two emotions at once.

The NFC Scrum

NO @ NYG is a coin-flip on paper, Saints favored by just 1.5, total of 45.5. That's relevant to a small army: Even Bauce, Stinky Bastards, titysprinkles2, Corn Shoughers, Foosball is the Devil, 2 Yards Under, Kardiac Kids, and Bush League all need this one to go their specific, contradictory ways.

CAR @ PHI sits at a sleepy 39.5 total with Carolina somehow favored by 1.5 on the road — sure, Vegas, whatever you say. Stinky Bastards and Corn Shoughers ride with the Panthers while Hands Holzberger and Kardiac Kids hold Eagles tickets.

Then there's CHI @ ATL, the one game this week that actually looks like a fantasy playground — total of 51.5 with Chicago favored by just 1.5. Bush League is double-dipping here with starters on both sides, which is either genius roster-building or a cry for help. titysprinkles2 and BourbonBandits/2 Yards Under round out the interested parties.

The Afternoon Blowout Watch

ARI @ LAR has the Rams favored by a gaudy 12.5 with a 51.5 total, which smells like a track meet in LA's favor. That's great news for Corn Shoughers, American Idol, Kardiac Kids, Bush League, and the Rams-siders at 2 Yards Under, considerably less great for the Cardinals crew at Even Bauce, I am so SMRT, D'OH, and 2 Yards Under's own other half.

LAC @ KC gives Kansas City a 8.5-point cushion, which should keep titysprinkles2, Hands Holzberger, and I am so SMRT, D'OH cheerfully rooting Chiefs while BourbonBandits nervously watches both benches from the owners' box since they've got skin in both unis.

BUF @ LV has Buffalo favored by 5.5 in a game Vegas thinks could get loud — total of 53.5. Stinky Bastards, Corn Shoughers, and Foosball is the Devil are all-in on the Bills, while Even Bauce and I am so SMRT, D'OH are straddling the fence with a foot in each huddle.

Primetime

Saturday-night energy spills into Sunday with DAL @ GB, where Green Bay's a slim 1.5-point favorite but the total is a juicy 53.5 — this one might decide a few fantasy weekends single-handedly. Even Bauce, Stinky Bastards, Hands Holzberger, BourbonBandits, Foosball is the Devil, American Idol, Kardiac Kids, and Bush League are all tuning in, which is basically the entire league holding its breath at once.

And Monday night closes the book with WAS @ SF, San Francisco favored by 7.5 with a total of 50.5. That's a late-night sweat for titysprinkles2 and Corn Shoughers on the Washington side, while Even Bauce, Stinky Bastards, 2 Yards Under, and American Idol watch the Niners carry them (hopefully) into the week.

All lines and totals current as of publication — subject to change, injuries, and the general chaos this league specializes in.

Coming up next: the weekly awards column — a lighter, funnier look at the week's best and worst. Expected Wednesday morning.
